講座概要

当科では、脳卒中（脳梗塞・脳出血・くも膜下出血）、脳腫瘍、頭部外傷をはじめ、脊椎・脊髄疾患、パーキンソン病などの機能性疾患、小児の先天性疾患、三叉神経痛や顔面けいれんなどの機能的疾患まで、幅広い脳神経外科疾患の診療を行っています。患者さん一人ひとりの病態に応じて、薬物療法やリハビリテーション、手術治療を適切に組み合わせ、最適な治療を提供できるよう努めています。

また、当科は大学病院として、高度で専門的な医療を提供するとともに、脳循環・代謝、脳腫瘍、脳血管障害、手術技術、医療画像など幅広い分野で研究を推進しています。これまで国内外の学会で多くの研究成果を発表し、国際的な医学雑誌にも数多くの論文を発信してきました。こうした研究活動を日々の診療へ還元し、最新の知見に基づいた質の高い医療の提供に努めています。

さらに、次世代の脳神経外科医の育成にも力を入れており、充実した教育体制のもとで若手医師を育成しています。優れた人材を育てることは、将来にわたり地域医療を支え、患者さんへより良い医療を提供することにつながると考えています。

特徴的な臨床の取り組み

当科では、患者さんにより安全で質の高い医療を提供するため、先進的な医療機器や最新の治療技術を積極的に導入しています。

血管撮影装置と高性能CTを備えたハイブリッド手術室を活用し、より正確で安全性の高い手術を行っています。また、内視鏡や手術ナビゲーションシステムを用いた低侵襲手術、脳の重要な機能をできる限り守るための覚醒下手術など、患者さん一人ひとりの病状に応じた高度な治療を提供しています。

さらに、脳動脈瘤、脳動静脈奇形などの脳血管疾患や、急性期脳梗塞に対する血管内治療では、東北地方で初めてAI（人工知能）を活用した支援システムを導入しました。AIによる治療支援を活用することで、迅速かつ精度の高い治療を実現し、患者さんの負担軽減と、常に質の高い医療を提供できる体制づくりに取り組んでいます。

今後も最新の医療技術と豊富な臨床経験を融合し、安全で質の高い脳神経外科医療を地域の皆さまへ提供してまいります。

赤松 洋祐 教授

脳神経外科学は人の尊厳の根幹をつかさどる脳・神経の外科的治療に携わる学問です。患者さんだけでなく脳という臓器に尊厳を持ち、教室員・スタッフ一丸となってチーム医療で取り組んでいます。「小医は病を治し　中医は人を治し　大医は国を治す」という諺がありますが、当科は誠の人間を育成する道場であると位置付けており、究極の小医・中医を目指し地域貢献していくことを前提に、各人が常に国際的な視点を持ち大学の使命の三本柱である「診療」、「教育」、「研究」を実行し、「日本一、世界一の診療を提供してゆくこと」を追求していきます。

研究に関しては齧歯類疾患モデルや臨床検体を用い、有効な治療法や発病に関わる要因が明らかとなっていない疾患をターゲットに新規治療法や発病予測因子に関する研究を本学の医歯薬総合研究所と協働で行い、将来的な外科治療の質向上と創薬につながる研究を推進しています。臨床研究に関しては、国際共同研究や国内の多施設共同研究への参加は勿論のこと、脳卒中診療に関しては大学と関連施設で統一したプロトコールで治療を行い、集積したデータを元に有効な脳卒中治療戦略を世界に発信していきます。
