講座概要

当分野は、口の中（口腔）や顎骨などにできる色々な病気の教育、診療ならびに研究を行っています。

特徴的な臨床の取り組み

当分野では、口腔外科全般にわたる幅広い診療に加え、「顎変形症」「顎関節疾患」「顎顔面再建」「口腔がん」「口腔粘膜疾患」「高齢者・全身疾患を有する患者への口腔外科診療」を重点分野として、臨床に直結した研究と高度な医療の実践に取り組んでいます。特に、口腔粘膜疾患の診断、3Dデジタル技術を活用した顎顔面再建、人工材料を使用した顎骨再建に関する研究を三本柱とし、安全で質の高い口腔外科医療の提供を目指すとともに、全身管理を重視した高度医療を実践しています。

教授挨拶

口腔外科学教室は昭和40年に開設され、昭和48年に口腔外科学講第一講座（平成21年に顎口腔外科学分野と改称）と口腔外科学講第二講座（平成21年に歯科口腔外科学分野と改称）の2講座となり、以来、口腔外科の教育、診療、研究を2つの講座が担当してきましたが、2012年4月に顎口腔外科学分野（旧口腔外科学講第一講座）と歯科口腔外科学分野（旧口腔外科学講第二講座）が統合されて、新しく「口腔顎顔面再建学講座　口腔外科学分野」となりました。

本学は岩手県で唯一の医歯薬総合大学であるため、口腔外科学分野には重篤な全身疾患を伴う患者に対する口腔管理はもちろんのこと、歯科医学的に困難な症例に対応することが多方面から期待されています。関連各科と緊密な連携を取りながら、高度な臨床的判断を要する難症例にもチャレンジする精神を堅持していきたいと考えております。臨床において最も大切なことは、患者さんを第一に考えることです。この基本方針を見失わない限り、臨床上生じる様々な問題にも適切に対応できるものと確信しています。

社会の要求を汲み取り、これに応えることこそが口腔外科学分野の存在意義に繋がるものと考えております。そして、良き臨床医は良き研究者であるという理念を啓蒙し、医局員が好奇心や向上心を持続しながら、良い研究ができるよう支援していくつもりです。
